USA has issued a worldwide travel alert for its citizens. Again.

"Such broad warnings have been criticised in the past, both for being so vague as to be of little practical use and for doing the terrorists' job for them by creating a climate of fear in which governments may introduce repressive policies." - BBC News

Instead of issuing blanket statements, such as advising 300 million people against travelling anywhere, despite the same state department saying that they see no potential for terrorists to actively target US citizens makes me agree with the critics mentioned by the BBC.

Terrorism acts against the freedom that should be covered by constitutional freedoms in a democracy, but every terrorist attack changes the mindset of our politicians into a more totalitarian worldview and the policy changes that we see are slowly changing the western world into a series of fascist regimes governed from gargantuan ivory towers.

I see a point in increasing security but not at the expense of liberty and for the past 14 years, there has been a polarization taking place in the political caste of the western world. Everyone seems blinded by either idealism that borders on the fanatical or complete apathy and there is no outlook on the future that suggests a better world is coming soon.

I am not stating that the "old times" were in some way better than the present, but merely attempting to shout that I, for one, will not accept a quiet revolution of the world that regresses the worldview that I have fought for into a fearful, repressed, darkened and dystopian mockery.
